K-Electric is the only privately held vertically integrated power utility in Pakistan managing the generation, transmission & distribution of electricity in its license area. Being a privatized utility company, KE is actively pursuing initiatives that will improve the overall governance in line with the latest techniques/technologies being practiced across the globe. KE has already under taken a number of initiatives to address these issues. Smart Grid Project is one example.
Smart Grid is being implemented for the first time in Pakistan with the objective of remote monitoring of Distribution network, reducing theft and restoration time, as well as, improving outage prediction. The Project requires extensive research to understand existing weaknesses in the existing distribution system and finding ways to deal with them.
Job Responsibilities include:
• Working in a team for the overall replacement process (field and in system) of 10,000 Electrostatic meters with smart Meters in Karachi. This includes planning, coordination with internal stakeholders, meter configuration, field installation, in system replacement of respective Smart meters and ensuring thorough documentation and reporting of the installation project.
• Using Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management (OUMDM) software for AMI Process design and consequent implementation.
• Designing process and solution architecture with respect to multiple software and interfaces, to fulfil company business needs including integration of Head End, MDM, Oracle Smart Grid Gateway (SGG), SAP Energy Data Management (EDM), Oracle Utility Business Intelligence (OUBI) and Global Informative System (GIS).
• Designing and Documenting SOPs for Field and system operations during the course of the Project.
• Designing and Documentation of As – Is and To-Be Processes of the AMI Department.
