Reform committee proposed FATA's merger into KPK.Committee for Gilgit Baltistan constitutional issues exists nowhere.
The Fata reforms committee has proposed a set of parallel and "concurrent political" judicial , administrative and security reforms to prepare FATA for a five year transition period for merger into KPK. The reform committee was made by PM Nawaz Sharif on 8 Nov to settle FATA's status issues. Sartaj Aziz, advisor to prime minister heads the committee . Other member includes National Security Adviser retired Lt Gen Nasser Janjua, Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid and Minister for States and Frontier Regions, retired Lt Gen Abdul Qadir Baloch. The committee has visited each and every part of FATA , held meetings tribal elders, FATA's representatives and government officials to know & elicit their views on the future status of FATA. Committee agreed that the people of FATA deserves development, peace and citizen's right after seeing nothing but war & turmoil from last 30 years . The final report will be submitted to PM upon his return from Britain later this month. Another committee was constituted by PM to take views & workable solutions to solve Gilgit Baltistan's constitutional issues as it is constitutionally not Pakistan's territory. That committee too was headed by Sartaj Aziz. The committee didn't make visits to the remote areas of Gilgit Baltistan yet to have discussions with GB's elders, representatives & government officials to elicit their opinions and views. People of GB are furious on the committee as it has been vanished from the scene without any conclusion. People of GB still looking to have their own declared constituional 5th province of Pakistan from last 70 years.
